What's the difference between deep vacuum and standard hydrovac airflow?

Traditional hydrovacs rely on airflow, which loses pulling power from any real depth or distance. Deep vacuum maintains suction strength along the full length of the hose.

Can it clear a blocked pump station or hard-to-reach site?

Yes. Because the truck doesn't need to be parked right on top of the job, it can suck from a distance to clear access first, then move in closer to finish the work.

A big consideration for hydrovac operators is what sort of distance an Allvac® hydrovac truck can suck material from. The answer to that is further than most operators expect, and it comes down to one thing: deep vacuum.

Why Distance Doesn't Kill Velocity

As the distance from the truck increases, the operator can reduce the hose diameter from 6 inch down to 4 inch. This keeps up the velocity of the product as it’s moving through the line instead of letting it slow down and settle partway along the hose. Because the Allvac® system runs at 90% deep vacuum, that flow keeps going even over long runs, moving heavy drill mud or gravel with ease rather than clogging or losing pull. Some customers have shifted product up to 60 metres away from the truck.

What Sets Deep Vacuum Apart

Traditional hydrovacs rely on airflow rather than deep vacuum, and airflow alone can't move product from any real depth. It's the deep vacuum setup that lets an Allvac® pull material up and along a line without losing suction strength, which is the real difference when a job site can't be accessed directly by the truck and the hose has to do the reaching instead.

Distance and Direction Barely Matter

With an Allvac®, uphill suction, downhill suction, and distance of suction make little practical difference to performance. Whether it's hydrovac spoil on an open site or debris and material from around municipal pump stations in tight inner-city streets, the unit works with the same efficiency every time.

Real-World Reach

That reach can solve real problems in the field. For example, on one job, a pump was blocked by a head of water. The crew was able to suck the water out from a position parked further away, giving them the clear access they needed to get closer and finish the job.
