Hydrex Hydro Excavator Up and Going, Day or Night

As May draws to a close, we want to celebrate Hydrex’s Allvac® AV7000H on Quon 6×4, known by its crew as Red. Big Red is a powerful specialist vehicle with adaptable functions that enables Hydrex to carry out their vital hydro excavation operations with ease and efficiency.

Hydrex’s Background in Hydro Excavation Operations

Based in Auckland, Hydrex was established in New Zealand after coming from a long-standing drilling operation in Western Australia. Will Pitman saw a gap in the market for hydro excavation and seized the opportunity, setting up in Auckland and expanding their capabilities from drilling to more comprehensive hydro excavation. The result is Hydrex as it is today, a strong business serving the essential utilities in the Auckland region with a constantly growing fleet.

Hydrex has had a longstanding relationship with Waimea Group, and has previously bought two other Allvac® units. Their experience they had with these hydro trucks was all about reliability, efficiency, power, and the quality service and backup that Waimea provides. This positive experience meant that when demand increased for their services, Hydrex jumped to get themselves another specialist utility vehicle from Waimea Group.  

The new AV7000H hydro excavator was delivered to their site earlier this year. It was promptly dubbed Red by the operators and other Hydrex crew as a reference to its sharp red branding. Red is now hard at work out and about on the job, mainly focused on contaminated and liquid waste work in the Auckland region.

Hydrex utilises this hydrovac for wastewater tanks in particular, but its adaptable and efficient design means it can be used to assist their other Allvac® specialist vehicles whenever the demand arises, whether it’s working with Civil & Drainage contractors or live service locating.
