Three New Lines Crane Trucks for Horizon Networks
This month, we’re celebrating not just one truck, but a whole team of them. Horizon Networks, seeing the value of Waimea Group’s specialist Lines Crane trucks, made the decision to purchase nine of them to support their recently secured contract in the Manawatu.
Bit by bit, we’ve been building, refining, and handing over this parade of powerful and efficient units. Today we’re spotlighting these three – a neat trio of lines crane trucks.
Together, they’re an impressive sight!
Growing Together In The Industry
Horizon Networks and Waimea Group have had a long-standing relationship in the power industry, both assisting each other to grow over the years. With Horizon’s recent achievement of the PowerCo contract, which involves servicing and expanding the Manawatu power network in both urban and rural environments, Waimea was able to supply them with the specialist vehicles they need to complete the contract to the highest standard.
The Chassis
Two of the three Lines Crane trucks in these images are mounted on the powerful but surprisingly nimble Hino 6×4. These units combine increased power and traction with a tight turning circle and great manoeuvrability, meaning they can operate equally well in an urban environment or off the seal. The third vehicle is appointed on a robust and reliable Isuzu chassis, which is designed specifically for off-road applications and can easily get to those hard-to-reach locations. With these three, Horizon has just the mix of power and agility they need for optimum performance.
The Crane
Two of the units bear Palfinger PK19 crane units, a compact crane with all the power required to handle the common distribution poles, and the third carries a more powerful PK26, enabling it to handle cable drums and transformers weighing up to 5.2 tonnes. Both types of units will be hard at work in Manawatu replacing and installing power poles to keep the power network functioning smoothly.
As these three impressive units head out to begin their vital work for Horizon, Waimea will continue building the remaining six. We look forward to seeing them continue driving out of our gate and towards both Waimea’s and Horizon’s vision of keeping community utilities functioning!
