Christmas on the Green – December’s Truck of the Month!
December’s truck of the month is getting right into the spirit of the season! Waimea Group’s vision is to provide specialist vehicles that can assist in keeping the community running smoothly and comfortably. This isn’t quite what we had in mind, but Counties Energy’s use of their Linelift® DHT160AS is something we’re on board with!
Counties Energy is a rapidly-growing, locally owned lines company based in the North Island, with electricity distribution services spread from coast to coast between southern Papakura and Mercer, and west of the Waikato River from Mercer to Waikaretu – servicing over 50,000 homes, farms, and businesses.
Counties are active in their local communities, which they have been serving for over 100 years. It’s a prime objective of theirs to give back to the community, and they do it by supporting emergency services, education, and community events and sports. This December, they attended the Christmas on the Green event with their Waimea-built DHT160AS, giving rides in the bucket to local kids. It’s a wildly popular attraction – the smiling faces say it all!
The Linelift® DHT160AS might not have been designed for kids’ rides, but it still does an admirable job of it…it’s certainly a versatile option! With 17 metres of work height and 8 metres of horizontal outreach, it can go high enough for the most thrill-seeking youngster, as well as having wrap-around boom functionality to add some excitement to the ride. And its 300kg bucket capacity is easily enough to carry multiple riders at a time. It doesn’t seem to be going near any power lines in these images, but if it should happen to, the fully insulated boom will ensure they’re safe as houses!
